Introduction
The 2026 International Workshop on Systems Engineering Research is an international one-day workshop on systems engineering, financially sponsored by the INCOSE French Chapter AFIS, with technical co-sponsorship from IEEE International, the IEEE Systems Council, the IEEE France Section, the IEEE France Section Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society Chapter, the French Society for Automation, Industrial Engineering and Productics (SAGIP)French Society for Automation, Industrial Engineering and Productics (SAGIP), and the S.mart Scientific Interest Group.
The workshop will be held in Toulouse, France, at La Cité, 55 avenue Louis Breguet, on January 14, 2026, jointly with the INCOSE French Chapter AFIS annual congress.
General Expectations
Papers submitted in response to the open call for papers will undergo a formal peer-review process for acceptance. We expect submissions to clearly articulate new and significant contributions and place them in the context of the existing literature. Accepted papers will be presented at the workshop. Inclusion in the IEEE Xplore® Digital Library is subject to meeting IEEE quality standards; IEEE reserves the right to decline publication of conference proceedings that do not fulfill these requirements.
Authors of papers with high potential to meet the Systems Engineering (SE) Journal or IEEE Systems Journal standards will be invited to submit an extended version – with less than 25% overlap compared to the workshop version – focusing, for instance, on a more detailed research method, improved (empirical) validation, and extended discussion of applicability and impact.
Important Dates (23:59 UTC/GMT)
All deadlines are at 23:59 Anywhere on Earth (AoE). The submission deadlines shall be rigorously upheld. Requests for extensions will not be accommodated.
